Happy Holidays!!

OK, so I have been M.I.A for a few weeks but for good reason. My dog has been extremely ill these past few weeks and I have literally been caring her back to life so forgive the lapse. The good news is that she is doing a bit better every day.  Please pray for her and keep your fingers crossed that she survives this nightmare!
Ok, life does go on and I will to. Thanks for your kind wishes!
So the holiday season is well underway and I have a few tips for your beauty preservation during the season.  Lets talk about what you have in your bag....
When attending an evening out whether you it be a holiday party or some other event, you MUST bring your touchup powder and your touchup gloss/lipstick.  The TWO most important thing in your purse...I wouldn't be caught dead without them so here are a few of my faves....
Since a nice vibrant lip is in style you must have something that pops! I wanna see pinks and reds and fuchsias dammit. Do not be afraid to ear these lustrous colors because you know what?  It looks hot and daring and insanely gorgeous!  Whether you are fair or darker skinned, there is a color for you.
And powders do not necessarily have to be the same powder you applied before you left the house. You want something to control the shine and mattify your skin.
I LOVE Laura Mercier Foundation powders and love the full yet natural coverage they provide.
Foundation Powder
Pressed Powder
NARS makes a great pressed powder as well. Check them out at www.sephora.com

Now onto Glosses and lip sticks....
MY personal favorite gloss is by NARS and I actually love ALL of their shades. AND believe me or not my favorite lipsticks are by good ole L'oreal.. Tawny is the perfect nude shade if you're doing a dark smokey eye.. They have gorgeous colors and they LAST!! Check them out at your local drug store.

So between you face and your lips you will be good for any holiday event or party or even while your shopping for that perfect gift for someone special. I wish you all a FABULOUS, GLAMMED UP HOLIDAY!!!  XOXO

Latest Glam-Venture..

Hey Glams!! I know... it has been a long time but Im back!  Ready to share the knowledge with all of you and we have so much to catch up on!
Ok today i want to share my latest loves.   Last week I made a trip to Lord and Taylors in search of the perfect grey suede slouchy boot. I found them (on sale to boot..lol) and on my way out I was drawn (as I always am) to the cosmetics floor.  I spent some time at the NARS counter with my friend Raymond and tried some goods.  Needless to say, I walked out with 2 gorgeous blushers and a multi stick which I plan on using for the rest of my days.
NARS Blush in Taj Mahal is G-O-R-G-E-O-U-S.  Its like a burnt orange with shimmer which really pops. Use it sparingly.. but definitely use it.  It's like ORGASM on speed.
Exhibit AI also love Exhibit A but I would only recommend this to Make-Up Artists because its a super pigmented red and not easy to apply. You could end up looking like a clown if not used properly.  If you do decide to venture then I would suggest you be very light with the hand.
NARSLastly, I got the NARS multiple stick in CAP VERT (its matte and like warm clay). Its a lovely tan brown which you can use on the cheeks, eyes and lips or even as a contour.  This is my new staple.

Ă”scillation PowerfoundationTHEN, after I dragged my self away from the NARS counter I sauntered over to Lancome because I had read about the the new Oscillation Powder Foundation and I had to check it out and seriously, I have to say...it's DAMN good.  Its a mineral powder and honestly Im not a fan of the minerals because the look crappy in pictures. BUT  this one is really nice.  The applicator vibrates...yes, vibrates, and the finish is flawless. Very easy to use and has great medium coverage. I strongly recommend that you look into this one...
So there you have my latest glamour adventure and I am truly happy with all of my new goodies. Into the Makeup kit and definitely on my face.  I hope you try them out too and let me know what you think.
Have a Happy Thanksgiving and be beautiful while doing it.  Ta-Ta....

Contouring.... Yes make that face pop!!

Ok so I had lunch with a really good friend of mine yesterday (GLENDA) and as we were talking... I noticed her insane cheekbones.. Now Im not sure about you but I do NOT have that gift!  Done get me wrong, they are there due to my mothers insane Native American bone structure but Im a little more.... well lets say plump and pretty ..lol...
Anyway, I was getting all sorts of ideas about contouring her face.  I thought I would share the knowledge.
I do plan on doing a tutorial soon but until then.....
1. First look at your cheeks and nose.  Those are the areas to work on. If your nose is wide or plump or you want to alter the shape...
2. Use a darker shade of brown shadow/blush/blotting powder  to contour down the nose from the eyebrow...  very gentle and subtle.   Then use the same color on under the cheekbone...  Feel it out- you will feel the bone and focus on the space underneath that..
3. Then gently use that color to maximize the shape of your facial structure.  TRUST!!! It makes a difference.
You could lose 10 lbs in the face in 10 minutes!! Who doesnt love that????
If you have questions, email me and Will be happy to help! In the meantime you work on that and I will work on the tutorial videos.  Later Glams!!

Twas the night after Halloween....

Well Glams, I hope you all had a wonderful and safe Halloween. I, myself, had a ball! My good friend Clarence came into town from San Francisco and we hit the streets. Drinks at the W hotel in Union Square, dinner at City Crab (you must try the Buffalo shrimp) and then I headed home to get ready for the parties. After much thought, I decided to be a Ghoulish, corpse bride. Yes, I got out the ugly stick and beat the face to a pale eery mess!
Here's what I did:
For the foundation base I primed with Smashbox Photofinish and mixed Chanel's ProLumiere in Beige with the Make Up For Ever Flash Palette white color.
I used their HD Microfinish powder to set and then contoured the cheeks with my MAC blotting powder.
For the eyes, I used my MAC palette and used Carbon all over the lid and then moved to my INGLOT palette to add maroon, silver and heather grey. Two sets of false lashes and a very strong brow. The lips were first lined and filled in with Stila Contour #6 and the MAC Russian Red over the top. I curled and teased the hell out of my hair and sprayed it to death.
We met up in Union Square and what a sight we were. He was a Jedi and me.. well you can see for yourself. We had a great time at the party where everyone was decked out in their creative costumes and the music was great. I love Halloween and am already planning next years getup. What did you dress as? Send pics!!

What a beautiful day in NYC!

Today was a good day and it didn't involve purchasing any makeup...lol.. a rarity. I went to brunch with my best girlfriends and walked around Tribeca and SoHo... Everyone was out and enjoying the perfect fall weather. I came across one of my favorite shops, Space.NK.apothecary and headed in. They just happen to carry one of my favorite British makeup lines...Jemma Kidd. If you aren't familiar then you should definitely check her out. She has great products and a fantastic line of brushes. I really like this line and hope you do too.Jemma Kidd Make Up School PRO

Cold Weather Must-Haves

Brrrrr... the chill is in the air and you must keep your makeup bag stocked with certain products to keep you glowing. Here are my top fave winter must haves!

CHAPSTICK / LIP BALM
Whether its Blistex or chapstick, you must keep your lips moisturized and pouty because dry lips are icky and your gloss or lipstick wont look appealing.
I use Rosebud Salve which you can find at www.Sephora.com
SANITIZING HAND GEL
keep those germs AWAY!! It is flu season and you don't want to get sick because there is nothing glamourous about that! I don't care for the alcohol scent of Purell but Victoria's Secret has wonderful smelling gels that are cute and clean! Delicious scents like Love Spell, Berry Kiss and Amber Romance. Mmmmm... the germs have nothing on me!
MOISTURIZER!!!
This weather can take a toll on your face so you should always have something in your bag to relieve your skin. Chapped face = flaky skin = YUCK.. I keep a small travel size tube of Philosophy's Hope in a Jar in my bag.
The Travel Agent
BLUSHER OR BRONZER
The cold weather can give you a natural rosiness but I like to accentuate it with a pop of color on my cheeks. Creme Blush is lovely and stays put! Powder blushes work as well of course but I like dont want any extra drying agent on my face with the chilly winds. I love Kevyn Aucoin's line and his blushes come in 2 youthful shades. You can find them at www.sephora.com

HAND CREME
Who wants to hold hands with a lizard? Not me.... so I make sure I keep my hands moisturized because the weather will weather you! L'Occitane Shea Butter Hand Creme has been my favorite for many years and it smells delish!
Shea Butter Mini Hand Cream

So there you have it. Keep these items with you at all times and the cold weather wont reak havoc! Stay warm and have a hot tottie on me! MUAH!

My work

Hey Glams! Just thought I'd share some of my work with you. Enjoy!!

Chanel.... Enough Said.

Hey Glams!!
I am sooooo sorry it has been so long but I have had quite a busy few weeks! For one, my birthday was this past weekend and the week was chock full of festivities!
So .... While searching for my birthday dress in Lord & Taylors last week, I stopped off at the cosmetic counters ( as I always do) to see what new goodies I would find. I was drawn to the Chanel counter (as I always am) discovered my new 2 favorites items for fall. Now, I had heard about the Pro Lumiere foundation but for the past 2 years I have been a devoted Georgio Armani fan and wasn't quite ready to crossover. Well, much to my suprise, I tried it and wow... what fantastic coverage! I was flawless!!! It goes on silky smooth like Armani but gave me full, natural coverage with a slight sheen. I am now a fan! Check it out here:

CHANEL Pro Lumiere

Now on to my other fantastic discovery.... Chanels' Luminous Satin Lip Lacquer. This classy black tube would appear to be a lip gloss but it goes on like a lipstick. Truly. At first I was hesitant because I have been wearing NARS orgasm for 6 years now no matter how many different shades I try. The Chanel colors were gorgeous and since we have approached Fall, I figured it was time to try something lush and deep so I went for the Mandarin shade and pow, I had gorgeous lips with serious staying power. I even wore it on my birthday so you know I trusted it (wink). I will now be wearing it at every opportunity and wow did I feel SUPAHSEXY and honestly, who doesn't need a little of that every so often. Now, it aint cheap at $38 but trust me, it will not disappoint.

The VMA's....

I have so much to say so let me gather my thoughts .... Wow....

Because its your face!

People always ask me what my daily skin care regimen is and what products I use on my face. Well I can first tell you that my skin is not perfect but I do take of it to a point of obsession.
The three most important things for me? Remove makeup, cleanse and moisturize! Seriously you should be washing that gorgeous face morning and especially at night. I have stumbled home at 4am from a night out and still found the time and energy to wash my face. Waking up with makeup is gross and makes you break out. Taylor don't play that....
Now, Im not a fan of exfoliating because I have sensitive skin but I do use my Clarisonic brush 3-4 times a week. What is that you ask? Well its an electric sonic brush which cleans, softens and smoothes your skin. I love, love , love it.
See full size image

I use a few different makeup removers at night but my favorite is Cliniques Take the Day off.
Its a balm and honey.. it takes it all off and leaves you really moisturized. If I need some extra help taking off eye makeup I uses Klorane Soothing Eye makeup remover for sensitive eyes.
Klorane Soothing Eye Make-up Remover
Now as for cleansers, I love DermaDoctor's Wrinkle Revenge which is a glycolic acid facial cleanser. I use that 2x a day and its pretty gentle. You can find it at Sephora.
Im not big on toners but thats ok if you are. At this point, I'm all about the moisturizers!
My favorites are......

Philosophy Hope in a jar - its lightweight and very moisturizing.

Avon Anew with SPF - don't sleep on Avon... this stuff is awesome!

Welcome to the Anew Brand Store

Now if you are over 25 years old, you should definitely be using an eye cream. VERY IMPORTANT! Kiehls makes a great creamy eye treatment with avocado which I use at night but Avon (yes Avon) ANEW Rejuvenate 24 Hour eye moisturizer is my favorite right now. It has a day cream and a night cream. I totally co-sign on this product.

Well glams, that's about all I can fit for today (I have a few other products I use but we'll save that for another post) but if you have any questions about specific skin issues please leave your question in the comments and I'll be happy to answer you. Have a great face day!

Dare to be Red

Another big trend you will see on this months runways is the RED LIP! Now this is a tough subject for me because red lips carry such power! It such a statement and you must do it right or it will be all WRONG. My mother always tried to get me away from the pale pinks and peaches that I adore. She said red lipstick = ultimate glamour and truthfully, as I get older, I do feel a more daring so I may just try to push the envelope with myself and bust out of my beige comfort zone.
Now, let's talk about red for a minute. You may think that you can't pull it off and run the other way but trust me. If you pick the RIGHT red, you're golden and in order to pick the right shade you must consider your skins undertones. If you have yellow tones, then pick a brownish red.
If you have pink tones then go for the more deep plum shades of red and if you are can pull off anything go for the bright reds the classic Chanel Le Rouge..
The secret with any red is in the rest of your face.
1. Tone it down everywhere else. Ditch the heavy eyes (or you will look like the Addicted to Love chicks) and go for a subtle fresh look with mascara and taupe shadow.
2. Because reds can sometimes bleed, you want to prep your lips and the apply liner inside of your lipline. I even add a light translucent powder after your first application and then add another layer of the red so it stays in place. No one looks good with half a worn-off red mouth!
3. In order to keep it of your teeth - well.... how do I explain this..... You have to kind of wrap your lips around your finger and pull it out of your mouth... Hope that makes sense. : )

Now remember....When wearing red you must do one more thing....
Work the hell out of it! The attitude must match so own it GLAMS! have a great day...

Late night beautifying...

So on my way home from having drinks and a much needed catch-up session with my girl Lisa G... I discovered that the newest Sephora in Times Square was open until 10pm... (only in NYC Glams)... So of course I ventured in and sauntered around as if I had no idea what or who Sephora was as I always do....lol. I then proceeded to purchase a few items (as I always do because its fun), and in my basket was eyelid primer - Too Faced Shadow Insurance which prevents creases and keeps the eyes going all day long... I heard about it and then of course tried it myself and Im loving the result! Long lasting power for realz!
Shadow Insurance
I also purchased a blender brush and Makeup Forever's Aqua Waterproof Eyeliner Pencil in 7L. - A lovely aqua color which made my eyes pop and I even put some on my friend Issa and it looked gorgeous! Issa doesn't wear makeup on a daily basis but she always lets me try new looks so as we sat in the bar, I applied the creamy pigmented color. Loveliness! I love buying beauty day or late night. Try it for yourself.

August Top 5

Every month I will be posting my top 5 favorite products of the month. Here goes:

5. M.A.C. Fix+
What a fantastic moisturizing product. Use it alone after makeup application for a fresh dewy look or on your brushes to strengthen pigment color of your shadow. I also heard its a great after shave product... Who knew?
4. Benefit Coralista Blush
I love, love, love this blush. It's not as shimmery as NARS Orgasm but its peachy and delicious... (no I haven't tasted it)
3. Jemma Kidd - All Over Radiance Creme in Rose Gold
This British beauty's makeup line is fantastic and this shimmer is perfect on the cheekbone or browbone to highlight your pretty faces. : )
4. NARS gloss in Turkish Delight
Now here's an oldie but goody. It's just beautiful when you're all tan and it goes perfectly with that smokey eye... LOVESIT!
http://www.kaboodle.com/reviews/nars-lip-gloss-turkish-delight
5. CoverGirl Lash Blast mascara
Well, I have to say that this damn near beats DIORShow AND YSL's Volume Effet Faux Cils... For a drugstore brand, it magnificent! Definitely a must-have.

Got to have INGLOT

Hey Glams! Hope you're enjoying the beautiful NYC weather we're having today. So as I was enjoying the day in the city I came across quite a treat! On the corner of 48th and Broadway is cosmetics store named INGLOT and while I had passed it a few times, I had never ventured in. Well, much to my suprise I found not only hundreds of shade of gorgeousness but a lovely salesgirl/makeup artist Anne who helped me pick and create my "Freedom System Palette". They have gorgeous shades of everything! Shadow, foundation, nail polish, liptsticks, gloss, pigment pots, etc... This place is pigment heaven! The best part? They don't test on animals, they are more than reasonably priced ( I bought a 10 pan shadow palette for $50) AND I discovered that Mr. Inglot himself is not a makeup artist , but a Scientist so he's knows color and how to create it. I then rushed home to try on my new shadow jewels and wow....... I must say again ...wow!
INGLOT cosmetics the new European/Polish brand has landed right in our own Times Square and I plan to visit again very soon. Maybe I'll see you there ; )

The British are here!!

YES!!!! The wait is finally over! I may be a little late on this one but I have been waiting for this makeup line to come to the states for a year now... (drum roll) May I introduce.... ILLAMASQUA!!!!
The British cosmetics line is not for the faint-hearted... Illamasqua is almost like England's answer to M.A.C. but they upped the anty. Gorgeous colors and their lashes are INSANE!!!! Sephora exclusively sells Illamasqua and my order was placed this morning at 6am.. Im not playing around with this y'all. Insane Dramatic Glamour is back!! (exhale....)

Concealing the truth

SO lets talk concealers for a minute. Many of us don't use them but should and I must admit, I haven't needed to until this year (your mid 30's bear many gifts)... As a result, I have become slightly obsessed with concealers. Color, texture, does it crease, does it run, does it even match? Not an easy one ladies and gentlemen but once you find the right one...OH the amore.....
Right now my favorite is from the Bobbi Brown line. I use it on myself and my clients. Very creamy, doesn't really crease and it comes in 14 shades!!. Bobbi is an artist after my own heart because she uses yellow tones and I love that! Now, I have been hearing buzz about La Mer's new concealers and I'm very close to paying the $65 for a pot but not there yet.... My other favorite is Benefit's erase paste. It definitely erases but doesn't come in a range of shades so thats a downer. Regardless, I will continue my search and keep you posted.. By the way, what are your faves?

Falling away from Summer

If you're here in NYC then you know that the weather has been quite agreeable......for now. Since the cool breezes of Fall will soon be upon us, its that time to start you transition from summer tones to warmer deeps. You may have a golden bronzy tan so even it you are attracted to the shimmer and shine of the goldy tones than work with that but start adding in the dark liners. This fall is all about the dark sexy eye so stock up on your liners and deeper shadows. Instead of gold, try a shimmery taupe and smoke out your liner. Im always a fan of the peachy pink lip but have fun with your color. Take those lips a bit more pink or peach to really make that tan stand out. Have fun with it! Its art right? I will be posting different looks within the next few weeks with product suggestions. Feel free to leave your feedback too!

Apple NY

Ok so this post has nothing to do with beauty but I had to share.... So my PC crashed last week and I ended up buying a mac instead. Since my old computer had a virus, I had to transfer files and unfortunately, not everything came over including my music. Needless to say, I was in apple purgatory for 4 days. They couldn't help and I was about to break out the vodka when someone told me about this online program that can reverse your ipod and import your files back into itunes. Well it worked and I am so freakin' overjoyed!!!! My music is my other investment in life and it has taken years and years and lots of time and money to build up my library. Whew! Ok back to the glamour.....

Shameless beauty

Hey Glams! As a Makeup artist I am always looking for the next big thing, the next fantastic product and Im always looking for a way to buy it. I admit I spend tons of mula on makeup, brushes, moisturizers and damn near anything to make me look good.   So last night I decided to re-organize the arsenal which always ends up with me deciding that I need more! Yes, I can always find a reason and the dollars to buy MORE MAKEUP but you know what? I like to make people (myself included) look and feel beautiful. Its just what I do. I love it and lets be honest - we also happen to live in a world where your best face forward will make all the difference in not only how you feel, obviously how you look but how the world responds to you.  We don't wear makeup for our health although many new products claim we should. We wear it because it makes us feel pretty. And who the hell doesn't want that? Pretty is fine by me and I have no shame investing in my appearance - and I do.
Look, whether its a dewy gloss to pick you up, that peachy cream blush to wake up that gorgeous face or that sultry black winged liner that channels your inner Marilyn  - Its all good if it makes you feel like a star! SO go forth and be beautiful no matter what that entails for you. We all know beauty comes from within so start there and then work it on out!  xoxo
